Paniyeli Poru is located By Road: 36 kms from Aluva Town, 27 Kms from Cochin International Airport. It is an ideal location for one-day trekking. This 1.5 km trekking through riverside pathway will take you to the poru waterfalls. After walking around 400 m one has to cross the river by foot to reach the forest and walk forward about a kilometer to reach the water falls. You can also see numerous small islands in the river and you can hang out and roam around the jungle.
Paniyeli Poru is a beautiful natural place hidden away from prying eyes, lovingly nourished by the River Periyar. The verdant green forests and the white milky river streams attract people from far and wide. The Periyar river flowing through natural rocky terrain and dense forests with the distant green hills and cloudy sky as a backdrop is a fantastic sight to behold! The name Poru came as a result of the routine fight; the raftsmen had with the wild waves of the river Periyar when bringing cut Bamboo from the forest.
